Job Description

Essential Medical Transport Driver – Wheelchair and Ambulatory (Essential) 2nd & 3rd Shift

Available Shifts: 2nd Shift: 3PM - 1AM or 3rd Shift: 8PM-6AM (set and rotating shifts available) Full-Time & Part-Time

Suburban Transportation is looking for CDL drivers, with passenger endorsement, to provide non-emergency wheelchair and ambulatory patient transport.

We transport elderly and disabled clients to/from medical appointments, hospitals, dialysis clinics, nursing homes, adult day healthcare, and around town. We help those in need who would otherwise be unable to access essential services in the community.

We are seeking multiple drivers to join our team. Must be able to work independently and fulfill requests for transport for wheelchair and ambulatory clients traveling to/from area hospitals, dialysis clinics, and medical offices.

There will be some downtime during shift to take a break or standby at hospital in safe and secure area waiting for transport requests.

Candidates must enjoy driving and providing high level customer service to clients, their caregivers, and medical providers. All drivers must meet physical requirements to push and pull the weight of patients in wheelchairs.

We are taking great precautions to ensure safety of drivers and passengers during the COVID pandemic. We supply proper personal protective equipment (masks, gloves, sanitizers, and disinfectant) to enhance the health and safety of the community.

The desired candidate is also taking COVID precautions in personal life to limit exposure. Individuals not wearing masks or social distancing from the general public are not suitable candidates for this position. There is a mandatory mask requirement for this position.

Experienced non-emergency medical transport (NEMT) drivers, EMT, Fire, CNA's,s all encouraged to apply. We have flexible part-time work to help supplement your income and full-time positions available if you are ready for a change!

Some weekends and holidays needed.

Well-maintained fleet of vehicles. Professional work environment.

Must be able to utilize a smartphone for communication, manage trips assignments, and navigate to destinations. We train in-house and have efficient processes to streamline your day.

Driver's must have or be able to obtain a NYS Commercial Drivers License with Passenger Endorsement.

All drivers must be willing to undergo background check and drug test.

Taxi Driver and Non-Emergency Medical Transport

Job Description

We are expanding our essential services to 24/7, 365! WE ARE ACTIVELY HIRING TWO FIELD SUPERVISORS TO ROTATE - 4 nights on, 3 nights off, 3 nights on, 4 nights off.

Paid training in December, some of training will occur in afternoon and evening hours (not typical shift times).

Suburban is hiring two field supervisors to manage a team of 6-8 drivers, and also perform duties of a CDL-C passenger transport driver, to provide non-emergency wheelchair, stretcher, and ambulatory patient transport.

We transport elderly and disabled clients to/from medical appointments, hospitals, dialysis clinics, nursing homes, adult day healthcare, and around town. We help those in need who would otherwise be unable to access essential services in the community.

Candidates must enjoy driving and interacting with customers and employees in the field. Must provide a high level customer service to clients, their caregivers, and medical providers. A successful candidate must meet physical requirements to push and pull the weight of patients in wheelchairs.

Supervisors will be key point of contact for hospitals and medical facility staff, drivers, and our call center team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Driver's must have or be able to obtain a NYS Commercial Drivers License with Passenger Endorsement.

  • Managing Drivers and Call Center staff to consistently and reliably deliver against the Company's mission and values.
  • Creating weekly and monthly staffing schedules and effectively to meet needs of customers.
  • Manage time off requests and approve or turn down requests based on meeting customer needs.
  • Managing the team on a day-to-day basis, which includes complimenting and disciplining. Larger employee issues should be communicated to senior management prior to taking action. This includes terminating employees after consultation with senior management.
  • Leading the Team in keeping a high morale level and addressing issue that take away from this objective.
  • Addressing and solving issues and problems as they arise on a day to day basis. Larger issues and problems should be communicated to senior management.
  • Complete understanding of the driver roles and taking the lead in training new employees to execute this role with excellence.
  • Performing duties of driver as needed.
  • Lead the ongoing training/coaching of all team members to constantly improve and make the company better/safer.
  • Coordinate ensuring all Drivers are in proper uniform each day with the ID Badge. Clean, professional presentation.
  • Ensure vans and equipment are kept immaculately clean inside and out every day and that they are properly maintained. Report any issues with vans or equipment to maintenance for immediate corrective action.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to effectively think on your feet.
  • Shows good, practical judgement.
  • Experience managing teams.
  • Either specific experience and complete knowledge of being a NEMT Driver (including stretcher, ramps, stair chairs) or gains intimate knowledge of this role by doing the job until fully trained.
  • Effective leader in keeping a high level of morale and keeping people motivated.
  • Ability to represent company professionally and impressively to customers.
  • Energetic and willing to put in the time/effort to ensure the smooth and efficient operation.
  • Knowledgeable and comfortable with computers.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Pass drug test and background check.
  • Bachelors degree is preferred.
  • Supervisory or Management experience is preferred.
